Are the cameras really live?
Yes. They are New York City's own public traffic cameras, the same feeds the city publishes. NYCHawk shows them so you can look for yourself. Some cameras refresh every couple of seconds rather than streaming continuously, and a camera the city takes down will be dark for us too.
How accurate are the street rules and parking info?
NYCHawk reads the city's own published data and refreshes it constantly, but the street always wins. Signs change, and city datasets can lag. Treat the app as your scout, and always confirm the posted sign before you park.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no ads, and the city data NYCHawk uses is public. If an optional Pro tier arrives later for extras like alerts and saved-place syncing, the free app stays free.
Does it work outside New York City?
NYCHawk is built for the five boroughs, with some tri-state extras like beach conditions. Outside the city, most tools will have nothing to show.
How do I clear my data?
Everything lives on your phone. Clear saved places and watch lists inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything at once.
The fastest fixes come from a quick note that includes:
