NYCHawk has no accounts, no ads, no trackers, and no servers of ours. Your saved places and preferences stay on your phone, and city data comes straight from public services.
Your saved places, your preferences, and anything you type to use a tool, like a license plate for a ticket check or a watch list of streets, are stored on your device. There is no sign-in and no profile, so there is nothing about you for us to keep.
NYCHawk works like a very focused browser. Your phone requests data directly from public services: NYC Open Data, the MTA, the city's public traffic cameras, weather and environmental services, and map tile servers. Those requests go from your device to those services, the same way a website visit would, and those services see standard request information like an IP address. The requests never pass through servers of ours, and we never see them.
If you allow location access, it is used on your phone to show what is nearby, like the closest cameras or the rules on your block. You can use the whole app without granting location by searching for places instead.
The camera views in NYCHawk are New York City's own public traffic cameras, the same feeds the city publishes. NYCHawk shows them so you can look for yourself. It runs no recognition of any kind, not of faces, plates, or anything else.
We do not sell data, show ads, run analytics trackers, or use advertising identifiers. We have nothing to sell because we collect nothing.
Everything NYCHawk stores lives on your device, so deleting the app removes all of it. You can also clear saved places and watch lists inside the app at any time.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date, and material changes will be called out inside the app.
